Aranga Coffee

Tanza coffee from Aranga is a specialty coffee. Specialty coffee refers to exceptionally high-quality coffee. This entails that the coffee is free of primary defects, has no Quakers, is properly sized and dried, presents in the cup free of faults and taints and has distinctive taste attributes. In other words, it stands for guaranteed quality throughout all stages of the coffee production process from the seed into your coffee cup. Only 5% of the total worldwide coffee export qualify as specialty coffees according to the quality standards developed by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA). Tanza coffee-Aranga scores 85 (Excellent) of the 100 total points.

Aranga coffee is single origin, grown environmentally friendly by 30 families of small scale farmers. The coffee is handpicked, selecting only the red cherries. Cherries are depulped using simple hand-pulpers and strictly washed in the same day they are picked. They are then double wet-fermented (2x 18 hours), shade dried, and then sun dried on raised beds. It is due to this hard work that Tanza coffee farmers are paid more than twice as much price per kilo compared to auction coffee price. The farmers are certified by the Tanzania Organic Agriculture Movement (TOAM).

After arriving in the Netherlands, the green beans are roasted every week and distributed within 2 weeks after roasting to give you the best fresh cup of coffee. The Aranga cup’s floral aromas are dark berry acidities and full and intense vanilla mouthfeel.
